Building materials & construction

Building materials transport
tonnage, depots, sites

With building materials, the plan is decided by the tonne and by unloading time. Travia takes capacities, loading points and on-site times into account and produces rounds the tipper can actually keep to.

The constraints of the trade

What weighs on every day

01

Tonnage decides everything

Payload, axles and type of material determine what a vehicle can carry per trip. A badly sized load costs a whole trip.

How Travia handles them

Capacities and compatibilities

Each order is assigned to a vehicle able to carry it, respecting the compatibility of materials and equipment.

02

Several loading points

Depots, gravel pits, concrete plants: where to load depends on the material and availability. The plan must choose the right loading point, not just the nearest.

How Travia handles them

Choice of loading point

Loading points are network locations with their opening hours and stock. The engine picks the one that makes the trip feasible with the fewest kilometres.

03

Waiting on site

Unloading times, queues, access only at certain hours: this time ties up the vehicle and appears on no route.

How Travia handles them

On-site time in the calculation

Loading and unloading durations and site access windows are planning parameters. The expected time of each trip is shown.

04

Trips rather than rounds

The same vehicle makes several trips a day. How many are feasible depends on everything that happens before.

How Travia handles them

The day weighed in trips

The plan sequences trips per vehicle across the whole day and reports orders that no longer fit.

What you measure

The real-day test

Trips completed
Number of trips per vehicle in the rebuilt day, compared with the real day.
Kilometres
Total distance, including empty runs between site and loading point.
Waiting time
Time spent on site and at the loading point, as planned.
Tonnage carried
Tonnes delivered per vehicle and per day, relative to available capacity.
Sector questions

Before you send us a day

Does Travia handle orders that arrive during the day?

A late order can be inserted into the running plan, with the affected trip recalculated. Priority rules are set during the design phase. Testing a real day covers the day’s plan as it was driven.

Is weighbridge data needed?

Not to start: ordered quantities are enough. If your weighbridge tickets or ERP provide tonnages, they refine the measured utilisation.

Do drivers see the order of trips?

Yes, in the driver app, with loading point, site, access notes and the proof of delivery to capture.

What if we tested Travia
on a real day?

Send us your current rounds. We reproduce your constraints and compare the results with your current organisation.
